I swapped engines in my 64 fairlane, replaced a 390 with a 427. I used the coil and distributor from the 390 on the 427 to get it up and running. The engine starts just fine and seems to run well after the swap. But, after being on the road for maybe 5 to ten miles, the engine stops running. It has gas. Then, after 5 minutes or so, it starts right up easily but after another 5 miles or so, the engine just stops. Pull over , let it sit, it starts right up. any suggestions, please and thanks.

Another way to test heat related issues is to use a hair dryer on full heat & check it out that way.
Some times it works & prevents being stuck on the road.
This applys to ecu's, modules, coils & any electrical componets that might be a heat related failure. Bill

I had this problem one time and it was the fuel filter. depending on the carb make sure you don't have a copper screen filter right as the line goes to carb. GL finding out what it is maybe this will help.
