My engine is stumbling at low rpms, the timing is set at 14* and still pings even at WOT. Also, it smells rich. If I adjust the timing back far enough to stop the pinging, it misses worse at low rpms. This is the engine in my 65. Engine vac. is 18"hg at 800rpms. Spark plug gap is .050" This just doesn't make sense.

You can lower the gap on the plugs to about .42 and change your carb to a holley so you can adjust it!!!!Preferrably a small double pumper since you have work done to the motor and a 5 speed and 3.73 gears!!
