I have a section of exhaust pipe 6-8 in. long that needs to be replaced. The outside circumference is 3 inches, almost exactly.
Is 2" I.D. the size I need, where can I get it and how can I seal it up once I slip it on?

I believe exhaust pipe is generally sold by OD. In your case, it sounds like yours would be slightly under 1" OD (circumference divided by PI). That is pretty small. But in any case, if the surrounding pipe is pretty rust-free (weldable), it would be easiest for a shop to do it since they could put it on a lift and easily cut out the bad section. Otherwise, you can buy short pieces of pipe and U clamps at Pep Boys, Advance Auto and Auto Zone. Some is flexible and looks like braided fuel line.
