I'm seeing these fabricated valve covers on ebay going for pretty cheap. Of coarse these aren't name brand and probably made in china, but any other reason why I should not consider getting a set?

I currently have Ford Motorsport style covers, except they are plain polished aluminum, no FMS logo.

I bought a stef's fabricated pan, which after polishing is turning out very nice, I think fabricated covers will go well with the pan and make the engine look better, especially on top of aluminum heads. What do you think?

They're probably made by Pro Comp Electronics. I have a catalog from them, and they list a set of fabricated valve covers for 122$. Not sure if that's cheaper than your Ebay price or not. They look like nice pieces. No word as to the quality though...even if you consider the prevaling attitude of 'cheap' knockoff's from China, I don't think they could mess up too badly on something like this =).

Do a search on this, because someone here had bought some and had a problem with them leaking. I have also read on other sites where the cheap ones don't seal very well. I have used the Moroso fabbed covers, and they are nice and do not leak.

I was one of them that had a set. They leaked from day one. The flanges were not flat where they sat on the gaskets and no matter how tight I tightened them, they always leaked. The flanges were paper thin, so milling them flat was not really an option. The bolt holes didn't line up perfectly either, one or two on each valve cover was off by JUST a little, but just enough to cause a huge headache.

Alas, I gave them to my brother who promptly cleaned them up, put a comp cams sticker in the middle of them and sold them on Ebay for a little more than what he paid for them (which was I think $120 give or take).

Nope. Positive. You didn't read the product description, and apparently you didn't buy 'em.....so how can you sit there & tell him he's a dumbass?

BTW, they were advertised as cheap chinese knock-offs of some fabbed covers, with a comp sticker on top. Everyone that bid on them KNEW that they weren't comp covers.

Easy man, the way you wrote it made it sound like that lol, no one assumed much of anything. Anyhow, thanks for clearing it up and explaining that he didn't rip anyone off.
