i have a for toploader 4 speed transmission that i want to install into my 63 fairlane. How do i know what kind of bellhousing, flywheel, pressure plate and torque converter to get?
Um...if you are going to use a Top Loader...a Torque Converter won't be needed (Torque Converters are for automatics). If its an auto now...the pedal assembly would be the toughest thing to find/install. As far as bell housing, flywheel, clutch/pressure plate needed... gonna depend on engine you are going to use.
Well it sounds like what you need is the, Bellhousing, pressure plate, clutch disc, flywheel and a shifter etc.... all to fit your 65 289. shouldn't be to hard to locate that stuff...start with craigslist and ebay...maybe even on this site.. :]
ok thanks. yeah ive got the shifter and linkage(came with the tranny) ive heard that i may have to do some modifying of the drive shaft as well. Anybody think i will need a new starter as well? someone told me that also
