Hi, i bought myself a 64 Galaxie 500XL with a 352 FE in it.

Im considering building a SCAT 432 stroker for it, and wonder if i can bore and use my existing 352 block or have to buy a 390 block to fit the kit.

The bore on the SCAT kits im looking at are 4.080 with the 4.125 stroke.

My 352 has C4AE 8090G heads which i believe are some kind of hi-performance low riser head (i need FE education). Are these heads keepable as-is for a stroker build, or doable with some work? Or are aftermarket heads the way to go?

The 352 has a Edelbrock Performer 390 intake together with a Edelbrock 750 today. If i could save some $$$ buy reusing them it'd be great but if a stroker needs bigger and better then ill spend my cash.

I've bought the "How to build performance FE-engines" book, will get it in a few days. Until i get the book im pretty much lost on FEs but would love some input.

The BEST call you can make is to Survival Motorsports Home Page Talk to Barry, and he will get you past all of the "gotchas". He's an EXCELLENT person to deal with! You may THINK you are getting a better deal elsewhere, but in the long run, you're better off giving Barry a call on the phone. I've dealt with him several times, and he is a WEALTH of information! He has a stroker setup that will turn your 390 into a 445, and has all the details and balancing covered. He is an FE specialist, and use to be an engineer for Federal Mogul. He also competes in the Engine Masters competition with an FE. He builds awesome street engines, and can sell you the parts to make an excellent combination.

Good Luck!

Good advice from Mike. Barry will treat you right, as will Brent Lykins of Lykins Motorsports, and Doug Garifo of Precision Oil Pumps.

Brent is in the south, Doug in CA, and Barry in Detroit, so options to save on shipping.

Some advance warning. Everyone will tell you to sonic check. The 352 will almost always go to 4.08, but you need to check. Also, don't hold back with the 4.32, there is no downside to the 4.25 stroke. They work out great I have built quite a few of them.

Matter of fact my own two toys are 489 inch and 445 inch FEs
