A while back I asked about taking a 5.0 flywheel and balancing it to work on a 289 and people said it can be done. I recently picked up a flywheel at the junkyard out of a 84 mustang GT and it has the E1 code on it. It has some very small heat cracks on the clutch surface. will this be taken care of by surfacing it? what is the minimum thickness that one of these flywheels should be. Also anyone know of a good place in SF Bay area between SF and San Jose (on the peninsula) that I can take it to and what should i expect to pay to have it weight matched to my 289 flexplate and have it surfaced?
