I have a 1970 Ford F-100 with a C-6 Trans. In the process of installing a Lokar floor shifter I pushed the small shaft that the kickdown bracket hooks to inside the transmission. I got it out with a small screwdriver but now it just spins and doesn't seem to be hooked to anything. Can you get to this from the bottom of the transmission by dropping the pan or do I need to take the trans out? What happens if I leave the kickdown un-hooked?

Drop the pan. You've managed to get it out of its spring & valve inside.

Don't do it wrong...
