I've got to replace the passenger side (right) cv joint and axle assembly on the wife's 95 Contour. Once everything else is unbolted, the axle assembly needs to be popped free of the transaxle. What is the best slide hammer/axle puller tool to use for this job? I want to own a good multi-purpose slide hammer kit anyway, so I'll go buy one, but what to buy? My local NAPA store has several models they can order. What are other guys using? FWIW, my Chilton manual says to "use a slide hammer with the special adapter to pull the inner CV-joint from the transaxle" and the picture shows it to be Tool T86P-3514-A1. Any advice will be greatly appreciated -thanks in advance guys!

A Crow's foot or 30" prybar and a quick snap of the forearm is all that's required to pop it out.

If it does not come out that way, use a slide hammer but you have to weld a bracket to it first.... Which means poping the outer shaft off and cleaning out the grease and welding etc...

Use a prybar and a quick snap and you're done. Many times it will pop out just by pulling on it.
