does anyone know if i can pull out my 3-speed and swap in a 4-speed toploader? engine: 351w body: 66 mustang.

Anything can be done, but do you mean while keeping everthing stock exept for the transmission? I would imagine that it would not be too hard.

I just dont want to have to change the driveline or slip yoke, clutch linkage etc. I would prefer a t5 swap but by time everything is said and done I can get into a decent 4speed for half the price/trouble

Just pull the 3 speed, put in the 4 speed. Everything will work, but get a new shifter.

I am going to say that the 5 speed is worth it if you want to run a high gear ratio. I have a T5 and 3.80 gears in back, and I stull only run about 2200-2300 rpm on the freeway. With a 4 speed you will not have to worry about durability though.

I agree. I''ve gone from C-4 to toploader to t-5. 3.70s work out great on the highway.
