Was picking up a couple of parts for the '88 at Autozone and asked about motor mounts. It shows that the conv. motor mounts are different than the coupe/hatchback motor mounts. Weird thing is they're cheaper too...

Unfortunately, they are special order. No parts on hand to make a good visual comparison. The K-members are the same from coupe to conv., so what gives with these mounts?

Anyone have experience with this?

The convertible mounts are desirable, but i am suprised they are cheaper...maybe more people are buying those as replacements and thus they get produced more.

Anyway the difference is that the convertible mounts have an interlocking metal peice in the mount, making it much stronger. They did this presuambly since the convertible body is not as strong of a structure and any flex in the motor mount (stock mount) would result in added stress to the convertible chassis.

Thanks for the info! Makes sense... FYI The conv. mounts are $25 and $29 (l/r) and the coupe mounts are $37 each.
