It's about time to figure out how to mount the fuel cell in the econo dragster. I would prefer to mount it in the rear above and to the rear of the rear axle in the cargo compartment. I want to run exhaust through the stock location. If you follow the link below, there's a picture with some exhaust parts laid out. I'd like to put the tank about where the mufflers are in the picture.

What are the NHRA requirements for keeping fuel seperate from the driver? What I'm planning isn't really much different than the tank in the floor of the trunk in a mustang.

In an accident, which would be less likely to leak, a plastic cell, or metal?

As an alternative I could just mount the stock tank with a sump, or a cell in the stock location and have the exhaust exit out the sides. With a cell in the stock location I'd need to cut a hole in the floor to fill it.

So, what do you think?
