Not sure about Thunderbird but I used a 78 Galaxie II setup on my 63 without issue other than the tie rod end is different and you’ll need to have hoses special made. I went to a suspension specialist told them what I needed sent me a tie rod with the correct thread and tie rod diameter and stainless brake, I believe, made the hoses. It seems to me the Thunderbird is the same car. The replacement calipers and rotors are just plain cheap to replace. Stopping power reliability is a major improvement over drums.

I;ve heard rumor that 77-79 thunderbird spindles will bolt on a 63 1/2, does anyone know if there is truth to this?
Yes it is possible. I used those same front spindles on my 54 Merc. The only thing that has to be modified is the lower ball joint socket. It needs a minor honing. If my memory serves me correctly, they may lower your front end a little.

I used a 78 LTD for my swap and it worked fine but be aware that some of the swaps leave a positive cantor of +1 or better
