I'm having issues with my gas gauge. I dropped my gas tank in my 85 Mustang weeks ago and figured that I should replace the 25 yr old sender while I had the tank out.

Well, the new sender reads "Full" as 5/8th of a tank and reads "Empty" way before the fuel runs out. I tried adding an additional ground wire to the tank, not the sender itself, to see if it was a ground issue, but it did not help. And unfortunately I've thrown out the old, properly working sender. Darn it.

Lesson learned again. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And don't throw out the old parts till you know the new ones work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks. Chris.
