I'm building a '73 F100 street truck. I have a carbed 347 with Gt40 heads and X303 FMS cam, and a c4 tranny. I'm planning on running, probably, somewhere around a 26" tire. Truck weighs 3900#. Any recommendation on gearing and stall converter? I would like good off the line accleration, but don't want to hurt highway cruising too much. I know the cam makes power in the 2,800 to 6,200 range. Currently I have 3.25 gears, and the stock stall. I'm leaning on staying with the 3.25's with the 26" tire, but just looking for suggestions.

I like the 3.25's myself. Good all around type gear. I had 3.70's when I had the AOD in my 71 F100 but went to a 3.50 with the c4 it now has. I don't like the 3.50's so I am going to put 3.25's back in it like it came with.
#.25's do good on the interstate but can still pull a load once in a while.
I have a mild 351w in mine and have a used TCI convertor which is (I think) the Sat. night special. Just a bit above stock. Seems to do pretty good
