I'm building a 302 w/ gt40p heads in a 1961 falcon. Has anyone used the ford racing shorty headers that fit gt40p plugs? If not, which repo cast iron headers work? does the y style work or just stock one will. I have manual steering and a c4 trans with a 164 tooth starter setup. Has anyone put regular fox mustang shorty headers in a falcon. The fit is most likely very similar to regular shorty headers. I don't want to butcher up the shock towers, but a lil coaxing will be ok.

You need a header that doesn't turn down away from the block towards the collectors right away, if you compare what a Mac shorty looks like to a regular long tube header when looking at a top view of the headers you'll see the difference.
A Mac shorty with 90 degree plug boots will be close to fitting without much work.

Fox Mustang headers won't work as the driver's outlet interferes with the steering box or at least that was the case in my Cougar and I'd figure the Falcon's engine compartment to be close enough to have the same issue. Repo 289 HIPO manifolds work with the GT40P heads.
