I'm thinking of removing the toploader trans from my 65 Mercury Cyclone so it can be tested. The car will driven on ramps and the back of the car will be sitting on jack stands.

I'm thinking of using this device from harbor freight to remove and reinstall the transmission. Is this the best and easiest choice. I don't want to spend $300 or more. This one costs $109 + tax.

Thanks

I bought one of those harbor freight transmission jacks several years ago. I pulled a BorgWarner T-10 out of my chevelle before I sold it to do a new clutch. I'm a senior and had no problem with the job with no help.Perfect trans jack for occasional shade tree mechanic use . I did not want to spend a lot on trans jack either.😎

It looks like it would work and for the price a rental would cost the same and avoid the hassle of transport and trade it for hassle of storage. Don't worry your buddies that borrow it will store it for you.
