I've got the ability to get a set of stock heads from an '88 302, would there be much beniefit to putting these of an '85. The stock '88 had dished pistons with 9.5 cr, the '85 has flat with 9.1cr. Would I see any advantage, and if so what.?

Thanks.

essentially the same head. Unless you need new heads and these are dirt cheap, you'd be better off re-building/porting the ones you have.

If you are just starting out then a set of 351 w heads would be the way to go! I think late 60 models had the smaller cc's for compression.Or buy a set of 289 heads from PAW and have them ported.BUT in reality, don't even waste the time on these heads because they are so outdated! On your original question about the 88 head,NO DIFFERENCE!! Buy a set of aluminun,Victor Jr's,Canfield,AFR's,Tfs,Brodix.
