I have a friend who just bought a 90 something lighting. He wants to do some performance upgrades up to and including a supercharger. Any way we were dicussing headers. He plans on putting equal lenght short tube headers with a x-pipe. He says they are just as good as long tube headers, I disagree, I've always under stood that long tubes were the best way to go for performance. Any one want to weigh in on this?

if he wants to stay smog legal long tubes are out in most applications not sure about the lightning . thats why most people put short length headers on because they make 50 state legal ones

normall yes the long tubes will make more power. Its also due to better collector design which cant normally work on a shorty header.

Equal length shorties are a MAJOR PITA to install.
