ok guys im haveing loud thudd problems on my front right hand side when i hit bumps, everything is brand new, not lowered, and the only thing i can think of is the broken power steering control valve which my give the right wheel a little play. it still works but i know it is broken, i think it is the inside parts of the ball bolt that attaches to the pitman. anyhow has anyone had these problems? could the be the problem?
when there is alot of movement i dont get the thudds, but when i hit rough stuff you can tell something is definitly wrong.but its not even that rough. i have a small hairline crack about one inch long from my previous super stiff coils, but it is not bent or going to get much worse as it is alot softer ride, still a bit stiff but thats because they are new coils. i will spot weld that, but i dont think the tower is the problem. could it be the control valve? thanks

This is a wild guess, but could it be the shocks topping out? My friend escort had this problem, you'd hit a bump and the car would travel up from the bump and "WACK" the shock would run out of travel and what a bump it would be. Its just a guess. Good Luck!

Have you jacked the right front tire off the ground and tried to wiggle it from top to bottom. Usually, if you get the tire up and move it you can see where the slop is. If there is no slop in your tire then it is probably fine. I'd then start to tighten every bolt in the area I can find, including the shock as previously mentioned.

Does this "bump" affect the ride at all? Does the car pull to one side more than it used to?

not sure i think it does pull but only sometimes, i think it just resets the direction for a quick second. other times it just thudds loud. if it is the kyb's why would it bottom out the shock? the height it sitting so high now that i have the new coils in, but i guess it could be the shock , but i doubt it, the left side basicly feels stronger or at least sounds that way, i get no noises from the left side.
but yes it feels and sounds like the wheel is bouncing side to side but just barely like a cymbal being struck, i am always under the car! tiny bit of play, due to the control valve i think. thanks lemme know what you guys think, hope im not being too vague!

it doesnt pull like want to turn, but bounces so much via deflection, it has to land somewhere! so it is a rough rider!
but theres no way this 66 fairlane was designed to ride like that, just on the right side!

now i think its the idler, and the control valve dang thing is getting worse and pulls to one side, just a few days after aligning
