I have the long factory cast iron headers on my car(1964). It took about 5 times shoehorning to get them on. They only have less than 1/2" clearence at the upper control arm mounts and steering box. I have never tried the shorties.

Btw: Welcome to Ford Muscle.. Be looking for your post.

Thanks everone that responded to my inquiry. Won the cast iron shorties on ebay for the FE. Will let you know how they fit , once I finish pulling the engine & trans. I am putting in a Crane 271 cam and kit, new timing gears and chain, new hipo oil pump, alum maniford and 650 carb on a 66 390 that i have had in my 60 Starliner for about 9 years. The engine was box stock from a little old ladies Ford galixie that rusted in half at the frame, with only 48,000 miles. Ran very good but no powe, so I am going to modify and see if I can keep up with my friends 66 Chevelle 396 on the road as well as the gas pumps.
Thanks again for your knowledge and I will keep you infomed.

PS: There is also a cast iron long set on ebay that will expire in 2 days

If you are refering to my post. Yes they are the long cast FOMOCO headers. C-6 trans, and no power steering.

They can be used without cutting anything. Indigo66 can verify this. He saw the clearence on them yesterday.

The car does not have power steering and the manifold is an Edelbrock aluminum model "SP2R390.
Love the look of your Starliner. As soon as I can find a picture while it was running last fall, I post. The car is basicilly stock except for 66 T-bird buckets, rolled rear seat, 66 XL console. Put 2" dropped spindles and front disk brakes, from DropandStop out of LA, on last year. Car is Bright Red , interior is balck and still need to finish.

Larry,

Post a pic when you have one. The power steering doesn't affect the height but my Edelbrock manifold did create some problems on hood clearance. You might want to see how the height on your's compares to the performer RPM.
