I have a 3rd member and the numbers on the gears are C40W 4210B, I believe it has 300:1 and the other gear set has C40W 4210A. I believe the 2nd one is 2:79 -1 . Is there a difference in the gears to get a different ratio or is it also the pinion count of teeth.

Divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion gear teeth. Example: 39 ÷ 13 = 3.00:1

PS: Be aware you can not mix rings and pinions. They are manufactured as a pair and cannot be swapped with other parts, even of the same ratio.
