Hello,

I have a 1972 Grand Torino Sport with the 351 C Cobra Jet, Q I bought it from a car collector that was trying to downside. I drove it around in high school and then parked it when I went to college with the intent on getting it out and fully restoring it to it's glory at some point.

I'm getting to the point where financially I'll be able to do so but I curious where I can find the original build specs, does anyone know how I can get that?

Also would it be smarter to do a full restore to original, or do a retromod and update it with the original engine and trans?

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

In my opinion, the condition of the body can help decide what to do mechanically. If the body is pristine and just needs a wash and wax, I would lean toward going original. Of course the bottom line is what you want and what your budget can stand.

They are only original once.

Based on the picture the car looks decent. If it isn't high mileage, clean out the fuel system and get it running. If it runs well just clean it up and enjoy it.

If it needs engine work, maybe buy a crate motor for 5k-6k and replace it if your budget allows for that. Possibly upgrade to AOD transmission or swap to a 6 speed.
