When you say differential case, I am assuming you mean the differential carrier (to which the ring gear bolts)and not the gear case (in which the diff is installed.
I press the bearings on the differential using a press and a collar I turned to press only on the inner bearing race of the carrier bearings.
Is there a better way? This is the way in all the instructions I have seen.
I don't know, that is what I am trying to find out. Sometimes people find easier ways of doing things. By the way I did mean the carrier, I just call it the case because I call the case the carrier. A bit confusing isn't it? So any other innovative ways of pressing the bearing on?
A little *******, but last time I set one up, we dropped the carrier in the freezer for 30min or so, and warmed up the bearing slightly. Plop, fit right on, and sealled perfectly.. We had to do the same putting the crown on a detroit, cool the detroit, bbq'd the crown. Plop, all done..
