I was reading the lastest issue of 5.0 mustang and in there they have a fox body mustang with a 4.6 DOHC cobra motor with a novi 2000

my question is the motor is 10:1 and the blower cranks out 18 lbs boost, how are they keeping the detionation away

I wanted to build a 10.5:1 motor with boost but I thought it was to high, can anyone help me understand how this thing down't knock rings lands off pistons

They are using an ignition retard system. It retatds the ignition under higher boost. At that high of boost, I doubt that they are using pump gas either.

Oh yea, there is prob. an intercooller on that thing too. Cooler ait temps really reduce the chances of detination.

if you would like I can scan the article so you can take a look at it, and there is no intercooler it goes right from the outlet in to the intake

I am thinking they are useing sunoco or something
