I had to have a friend pull home my 66 the other day. We drove no more than 25mph for less than 5 miles. The next day I started the car to drive it around to my back driveway and it seemed to have trouble pulling. It acted like this before when I started it for the first time after 6 years of sitting still. After I topped off the fluid it was ok. I checked the fluid and its still ok. Should I worry?

After a vehicle sits for a long time is best to change the fluid in the tranny because the old fluid seeped off the clutchs and all thats left is junk. New fluid and screen is in order. And some crossing of the fingers.

Ive towed Humvees around in the desert alot, and the general rule was that we didnt tow more than 300 miles with out disconecting the trans from the shafts. Must not have hurt them too bad, cause i dont think we ever changed a xmission over the course of a year. Not bad for a beat to $hi# truck thats loaded 1000lbs over weight.
