I want something fast and affordable and these seem to be it.

I've never heard of how fast they can go though.
And would it be enough to beat a 2002 Mustang Convertible?
Easy 10 points.

They are only a few tenths slower than the 10 GT. It is as fast or faster than pretty much any previous S197 or new edge mustang except GT-500s, 03-04 Cobras and 03-04 Mach 1's. Plus it gets about 6-8mpg better than any GT or cobra. It will out handle them also.

I had 2012 v6 as rental for about a week. I thought it was slow. It may have 300hp, but it sure doesnt feel like it. Im guessing it feels the way it does because of the gearing. My girlfriend has a g35 coupe, and the v6 stang feels significantly slower.

just bought a new '12 GT, I know you were talking about the v6 though. I came from a G37, this car is much faster, but the suspension sucks compared to the infiniti

I'll second that. We rented a convertable while we were in Hawaii a few months ago and it had a V6 in it. I thought it was a dog and slow compared to my '06 Acura TL. Could be all the extra weight of the convertable but whatever. Plus I HATED the way it sounded. :tdn: I don't understand why Ford didn't due something to the exhaust to make it sound better. It must be the engine firing sequence or something because my TL doesn't sound like that and it's a V6 also.

A set of 40 series flowmasters will solve the sound problem! I have a set on my '00 V-6.

Several of my friends have put the Ford Racing "P" springs on their Boss 302's and have noticable improvement in terms of brake dive and body roll. Going from a GT, you'd see a huge difference IMO.

Per Motor Trend's testing the 2011 V6 did 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.7 at 102.0 mph. The Hemi-powered 376-horse Dodge Challenger R/T isn't any quicker to 60 and is just a tenth ahead at the quarter. Moreover, the new 3.7 is nearly as quick as last year's V-8-powered GT, which put down 4.9 and 13.5 at 104.2.

(the thread is three years old. :) )

That being said, i have all the go-fast goodies on my 2012 except a charger of some sort. I'm gonna skip that, rip out the V6/auto, and install a 408 stroker/Tremec 6-speed.

Gonna cost about $25k to do it...
