ok this is stupid but my 63 with a 64 289 motor did not come with a dip stick. A buddy gave me a old one that he had used to pick a lock or something but I used it. I was in junk yard yesterday and picked a nice one from a early 70's truck looked to have a 302 in it. Now I go to put it in and they are about 2-3" or so different?
I was just wondering if someone can measure a dipstick for a an old 289 or 302 with the dipstick in the front? I know I can change oil and put correct amount in and see which one is right but will be a couple weeks before I can it get in shop to do that.

Thanks for any help guys and gals and merry christmas

302 front sump & my dipstick is 20.5" to the seal, meaning the point where it seats to the actual dipstick tube.
Its a cheapy, chrome one from Ford racing, i think it was $12.95.
