Friend has a 89 GT Roller Block. Has new roller cam that will turn approximately 6500 RPM (probably + a little). Will the stock roller lifters that originally came in this motor take that kind of abuse at the drag strip
I would like to know the answer as well, I have heard 6k, but I took my stock 89 long block to 6400 on the chassis dyno and it probably had a few more rpm`s in it, it did not make any more power up there because of the stock heads but the power did not fall off either it basicly flatlined after 5800 or so.
When I built the 306 in my Mustang I used the E-303 cam and stock lifters. That engine was shifted at 6600rpm at the track. As long as the valve springs are in good shape it'll take the abuse. I ran this combo for 3 years without a failure. Probably 300 plus runs at the track.
