390 4/v in my galaxie and i honestly havent counted the miles yet. 351w 2/v in my 79 merc daily driver and it gets 15mpg on the highway. It doesnt have to be a BB to be bad on gas !!!!!!
390 4V in my '64 and 10 mpg. Sure glad I don't have to drive it but to the store and back etc. I should have filled the tank rather than put $20 in it back when the gas was $2.75 then I think. It's $3.17 now for the cheap stuff. Still I wouldn't give up my 390 for nothin. Just need a whole dif car that's small.
How 'bout straight blocks? Even though I've got 2 460s and a complete EFI 302 HO in my garage, my '64 still has the original 223 6 under the hood. Why tamper with perfection?...
514 here, originally a z code 390. Keep raising gas prices, I'll keep my big block so when I rob them they can't catch me, kidding kidding, they're robbing us.

The 521 is nothing less than disgraceful on fuel. And at $4.10 U.S. a gallon for the 98 octane stuff, you just about need a bank loan to do a cruise down the esplanade.
But, don,t the jap and euro tourists love it!
Oh, hang on , so do I.
289 was tired and smokey, not its a 347 stroker, 325HP, Edelbrock 4bbl, Headers, 190/160 vales in 1969 windsor heads, 2500 stall, shift kit, 3:70 gear.
All '63s, all big blocks form a .030 over 360 to a .030 over 428 with a dual quad 406 some were in the middle. Who cares how much gas is? I'm still going to drive one cross country this summer.
390 originally 2v. Now .030 over (396ish) Edelbrock performer RPM top end, crane cam, speed pro pistons around 9.4:1 compression, and a holley 4v 750cfm vac secondary carb. I don't think I need to metion it but it's a BIG BLOCK.
