Well, normally to hit above the 1hp/cube mark you have to do it above 5000rpm... and I'm thinkin that little six probably shouldn't go too much above that... so if you want more than 175ish hp you're gonna have to go with a supercharger... I'd say with a centrifugal supercharger you could probably hit 250hp tops before things start coming apart... but that's just a wild guess, I really know nothing about that engine.
I'm not sure about the 170, but i've seen a 200 six with a 170 head on it run 13.00's in a 65or66 mustang coupe. Check out clifford performance http://cliffordperformance.net/ might be able to get some ideas.
