On my '72 Gran torino, my door data plates are ones of a year '73-78 i believe, i know that they do not look like the '72 door data plates, but everything is the same, and correct. is there anything wrong or could this run me into trouble later when i need some sort of info from it? ohh.. and the car was made in January, so it's not a late '72

Actually, your car could be considered a mid to late 72, because the factories usually started production runs in the August before.

As for the data plate, I beleive from 1970 and later, Ford used a sticker instead of a metal plate.

Someone could have replaced the sticker, or the entire door.

Sometimes, the sticker was on the door and other times it was on the door jam of the body....it depends on where the production line worker wanted to stick it!
