I cant remember what my source was, but I was told to use a power booster off a 67 Gal with disc/drum to convert my drum brakes to disc. A master cylinder from the 78 cougar I have will be a direct bolt on. Why not just bolt the MC to the booster on my 65 that has drum/drum. It looks to me like it would fit without taking any fine measurements.
Also, the aluminum MC I pulled form the 78 cougar is an aluminum Bendix unit. A call to Bendix found this part originally for a 1981 Pontiac Firebird and is discontinued. They claim they dont even have a rebuild kit for it. Can you believe it? Anyway, it is obvious to me there is alot of interchangablilty with master cylinders. So my question is what other masters can I use in place of the 78 cougar master? My challenge is to find an aluminum one with 1" bore like the one I pulled, but I have to know the exact part otherwise the parts stores act like they are frozen in a state of suspended animation!! I read somewhere about a certain Dodge Van master but I cant find the info. HELP ME! Bendix is sick of me and I am sick of them. Frankly, I'm getting tired of brakes all together
. I dont want to give up and I dont want a cast iron MC they are way heavy. I have looked all over online and they just dont tell you much about the product at all. Im so frustrated right now.
