Hello folks,

On my 67 Fairlane 289... the idle is running high (1700rpm ish) when the engine is warm...

the adjustment screw is not touching the stop plate, so a plain throttle adjustment is not in order as it would not do anything... its like the linkage is just not returning to the "home" position...

any thoughts?

thanks

I once had the choke linkages lock up on me. Can't remember how I fixed it though :(.

Maybe you could detach the choke rod. That should let the choke plate float at an okay 45 deg angle and more importantly you will be able to free the throttle from any lockup. If the idle behaves better you can plan your next step.

It is kind of late though so don't take me too seriously.
