This is on '64 I-6 manual steering, looks like this:


I'm freshening up my steering bits, so I picked up a new idler arm and idler arm bushing.

I assumed the bushing somehow fit inside the fat section of the idler arm, but nope: it's just a rod end/ball joint:


So, where does the idler arm bushing (looks like this) go?

...or did I just waste $12?

That bushing is for a different style of idler arm.
The one you have pictured uses a tie rod end style of pivot instead of a bushing.

The parts illustration you posted shows the type with a bushing.
I assume the one you have is a replacement style that doesn't use the bushing and should work ok.
