First off, sorry for the bad pics, buts its all I got.
I finally got around to taking the seat out... to show you guys what I did to get the seat farther back in my 65 fastback. We all know how bad the early mustangs were for leg room from the factory... and there was really only one option to getting the seat back and that meant removing the seat pan and replacing it farther back on the floor pan.
Like a lot of guys, I had already done my body work and didnt want to go that route... so I came up with this...
Basically, I took 2-1/2" plate stock 1/4" thick and essentialy moved the mounting points of the tracks back on the seat... I have had no "leveraging issues" with the change in geometry and it has given me another 2.5 inches of travel on the seat platform.
For anyone who is over 6' its any easy upgrade that will keep your left knee from getting shaved off from the door handle when shifting
Anyway, just wanted to share this idea that has seemed to work very well... and considering no one makes seat extenders for early mustangs, it was my only option.
