My 86 gt 5.0 efi w/ speed density, had a couple of problems. First, at 1/2 throttle to wot the car would surge, loose power and sometimes backfire through the intake and at wot it didnt seem like it had much power. SECOND, the car will stall intermittently and will have no spark!! Engine will turn over but ... no spark!! This will last for 10 min. to a couple of days. I replaced the ignition module and the first problem is gone the power is back and surging is gone. But its still leaving me stranded, stalling intermittently. Anyone have any suggestions what might be the cause?

it still has no spark when it stalls, i ran into a friend at the machine shop and he informed me that he had a t-bird that was stalling like mine and ended up being the pickup coil in the distributor so i will check that next..i already checked the fuel pump. thanks for the replies...

When you replaced the module did you replace the stator inside the distributor? Those should be replaced together. You might want to check your TP sensor also, if you have a DVOM do a voltage sweep and make sure it's a steady climb in voltage. If the TP has an open it will give you the symptoms your getting with throttle response.
