Is it possible to turn a 9 inch rear end into a indpendent rear end?
Yes, it is possible, but it will cost a lot of money.

Depending on your application, look-up mid to late 90's Thunderbird or Cougars. They came with 8.8" independent rear suspensions with disc brakes from the factory.

I am trying to figure out what would be the be the best rear end for a 66 cobra kit car that my father and I are going to bild when we get his mustang finished. The Cars will be in compition with each other.

Why didn't you say so in the first place. The Jaguar IRS is a common swap for the Cobras.

Factory Five based off the T-bird IRS for Cobras, 8.8


99-04 Cobras had IRS, also 8.8


321 IRS has multiple IRS kits using 8.8
