Is it possible to get a 68 mustang with a 351W with stock heads and no nitrious to go 7.50's in the 1/8th? If so what engine combination would you have to put together, what transmission, how much stall, what gear, etc?

A simple answer,Yes. Some years ago I had a 68 with a .030 over 302, home ported heads, a 268H comp cam & some other stuff & went mid-high 13's all day long! 351W's are great little engines so I think it's more than possible

Well, my 289 headed 302 @ 3300lbs with driver went 7.48 @ 92 in the 1/8 no bottle. It runs on 93 octane pump gas too.

It seems to be the exception rather than the norm, though. But the answer to your question is 'yes' it is possible. Is it common? No..... because MAJOR port and head work are required. 7.49 in the 1/8 is roughly equivalent to 11.9 in the 1/4.

See the web sites below for information on the car. The 8.4 1/8 mile time on the carbedmustang site (no bottle) is a misprint.

Good Luck!
