I took off my upper intake today to replace valve covers and noticed the front two runners (#1,#5) on the lower intake were completely covered on the inside with oil. #6 was covered pretty bad, #7was 100% clean and the others showed only slight black burn marks. Could this be normal? It looked very strange that the front three were covered in wet oil then one back looked unused, then the rest looked as i would have expected. I cleaned the intake about a year ago and dont remember it looking like this. I will post a picture as soon as i can find the cable to my camera.
Thanks
Ricky

Sorry but I got the numbers wrong in the original post. 1,5 are covered, 2 is pretty bad and 6 is spotless. everything else looks normal to me. I checked the pcv and it looks clean. The valve is not stuck and rattles when I shake it. I'll pick up a new PCV tommorrow, but is there any other way to check this and are there any other things that could be causing this I need to look into?
Thanks
Ricky

Check the screen under the pcv, on short trips in winter they will plug solid and push oil out of every gasket on the engine. Once they plug they usually don't open up again without cleaning or replacement.
