Hey fellas, just stumbled upon the site and registered today. I just bought a 73 gran torino (302-2v c4 3.50 9") and already have my bedroom engine stand ready to start the motor build. I however haven't kept up on the build and design differences over the past 20 years that the Ford small blocks have had. I have a 1990's non-roller short block and heads, as well as the 1973 original 302 and am trying to research which parts out of both are the best to start with? I will consider stroking it up a tad, but rod ratio not lower than 1.7 though for longevity and reliability. Just a streetable engine, with torque, as well as the famed Ford hiogh end small block power curve... ha ha. If a stroker is too expensive, then plan to just port the heads, put a mild lift-long duration cam, and a good intake... Any advice is appreciated!
The last Hot Rod that I had (before my 22 year old was born lol) was a 1972 Maverick 302-4 bbl 4 speed 3.73's -- back in 1991.
