All,
I am picking up a FE C6 tomorrow and will be swapping it in to the 65. I have been digging through C6 swap threads and have found lots of definative answers as to whether I have to shorten the driveshaft or not and what has to be done on the crossmember. Unfortunatly I find lots of conflicts between these absolute statements.

Any chance someone has pictures of the crossmember changes required for a 65? I will be almost certianly be fabbing changes in and not looking for a 66 or newer unit unless someone in phoenix has one for sale cheap.

Is there a definative answer to the driveshaft shortening question? Is there a punchlist/parts list that I have missed?

Thanks (as always)....

Nathan

I drilled holes in the mounting area of the crossmember to the body to move it the amount i needed in my 66. Not sure if it is the same as your 65. I had to get a new yoke so i got a new yoke, new u-joints and beefed and balanced driveshaft all at the same time.

Hey, I'm with you. I've got a C6 from a '69 Gal that I'm going to put into the '63 this summer. I looked at quite a few forums and I've been told by some that the shaft will need to be shortened. A couple of guys on the Galaxie Club archives told me that they did not have to shorten the driveshaft.

When I put the C-6 in my 65 I made two plates with two holes in each to mount the crossmember back some, the emergency brake cables will be too long so I cut a piece of pipe to make up the slack in the adjustment . The way I done it is a little like hillbilly engineering but it works, supposively there is a 66 crossmember that will work but I have never seen one. Jeff
