Hokay. I am going to dump the power steering on this little Futura but I'm running into availability issues for parts.

First thought was to replace everything from adjuster sleeves in, but I have not yet located a single source for these pieces. The prices I have seen for a few parts are enough to give me major pucker. $120.00 for a manual steer idler arm! Sheesh.

Now I'm wondering about this 'Manual Steering Adapter' I've heard about. At first $144.00 seemed a bit steep but now that I'm seeing what replacement parts are looking to cost this piece might just be a bargain.

Has anyone used this adapter? Successfully or otherwise? In a racing application?

Does anyone have and want to sell (reasonably!) their late model manual steering parts? Maybe you went to rack & pinion and these old parts are just laying around, eh?

Let me know.

Obviously, from the lack of responses, there's not a lot of options (or give a hoot) on the late models.

S'Ok, problem solved. I bought another one. Six cyl car with manual steering. Even has a few sheet metal parts that are a little better than mine, helps justify the $200 price.

Thanks for looking.

I believe it is the centerlink that swaps out in that conversion not the idler arm. I paid 75.00 for a used one from a Falcon parts broker. I also believe the left outer tie rod is not the same you might want to confirm that.
The 150.00 adapter might be a cheaper way to go if that is wat you are looking for?
