I have a 68 cougar, and I would like to make the car hook up as good as it can. my leafs are 38 years old, and I would like to know if I should buy new ones for it. I realize this may sound like a stupid question, but I am completely ignorant to suspensions. Maybe old leafs wont hinder my traction, I just dont know. I would like to add caltrac bars or something of that sort to help, but I want to know if springs or worth the money spent.

If indeed I should get new springs for it, what should I look at? Monoleafs, multileafs?

As long as the springs aren't sagging, you can just take them to a local spring shop and have them rebuilt. They'll clean em up some and put new pads between the leafs.

With that done, Some Cal-Tracs, or Competition Engineering traction bars will help out quite a bit.
