I have a 331 going into a 62 Falcon so space up front is really tight. I have a reverse rotation pump and plan to run a Sanden 508 compressor and an alternator with a single serpentine belt. I have an old York style bracket and can use a York to Sanden adapter.

Questions:

1) I'm starting out without the AC and need a bracket or other AC eliminator to run high on the drivers side of the engine. Any ideas?

2) If I just mount a compressor without connecting the rest of the AC system, can I run the car that way or will that cause damage to the compressor.

What set of brackets are you using? If you use the 5.0 aluminium brackets, I know that they have AC eliminators, they're just an idler pulley that mounts in place of the compressor. I don't know if I would spin the compressor if its not connected, I thought the freon acted as a lubricant, but I really don't know much about them.

Thanks. For now I'll be using a standard rotation water pump. I discovered that the high mount alternator is right in the way of the radiator inlet.
