what else can you do to lower the back of the car besides blocks and reverse-eye springs? anything? and I know you can cut springs(for front) and you can get lowereing springs but what else for that? thanks for help!

You could do what the Honda guys do: one, get an oxy-acetylne torch. Two: Heat up the springs until they sag and the car is at the desired height. Three: stand back and look at your newly 'slammed'! car. It works, although expect your ride to be alot less smooth.

You really do not want to cut the springs up front, they're designed to be the length that they are. You can alter the spring rate, and that can result with unpredictable handling, let alone a shitty ride. I know you can purchase shorter springs for up front. I guess I'd like to know, how low do you want to go? I mean, you could get radical and begin to move the rear axel upward, but that would require surgery on the body. It comes down to, how much money do you have, how low do you want to go, and are you willing to to risk your life for a super low car. For example, I saw a guy at Sac State University who had obviously slammed his prelude in the fashion I jokinly suggested you do. He car was on the ground, the CV joint had snapped, and the wheel was slammed up into the fender, deforming the fender, rendering the car useless. I mean, you can go really low for cheap, but you could get hurt. You can go really low for a lot of money and do it right. Somewhere in the middle is where most of us car guys fit. So's I ask ya, how low would you like to go. Also, tire wheel combos too?

What're you working on? My 65'stang has reverse eye 5-leaf springs. They're plenty low. With 1-inch lowering blocks, IMO my car would be too low to get any rake at all. If you want your car level or raked, the front suspension is going to be your delimiter.

My car has reverse eye 5 leafs and 2" lowering blocks... runs on the street great... but make sure you have really stiff rear shocks... on the track I take out the blocks for the slicks to be able to get under.
Up front I have 1" 620 drop coils and I cut about a half coil out.
I run 245/50/15's in the rear and 205/55/15's up front. The first thing people say about the car is how good the stance is... low, with just a slight rake.

cool thanks for all the sugestions, i guess like threee to four in would be what I want. im going to put slight ground efects kit on it so thatll meke it look lower... thanks for all the help. would it be real bad to cut 1 or 1 1/2 a coil off?

oh yah and I dont have money to do any thing more radical than chopping coils and adding blocks... how much does a de-arching cost?

I would cut half a coil out and then re-install and check ride hieght...don'y cut too much out or too much at a time. I would stay away from de-arching the rear leafs... a set of reverse eye 5 leaf with springs are less than 100 US... prett cheap lowering.

In the DFW Texas area de-arching is around $100 a pair. Please don't cut your coil springs this changes the spring rate and most people I know aren't happy with their setup afterward. Spend a few bucks and get the right spring rate and height. If the car is a mustange consider the shelby upper control arm drop or the negative wedge kit, both will drop the front of the car and help the suspension geometery.

so what if i get a higher spring rate then normal than i cut them off so they are about the same? or does any one know of a dealer that sell coils that lower without altering spring? people keep telling me not/to and im getting confused... thanks AGAIN guys...you are good

The coils do not have a constant spring rate throughout the spring. Given a spring rate for a specified spring, then cutting the spring will give you either a stiffer spring or a softer spring, but you WILL NOT have the same spring rate as before. So whether or not you cut the springs, use this info when you decide. Is the ride(think performance) more important than the look? You decide.

Well no, its easy to do both. Its less costly to do either slightly, the more drastic you go from stock, the more it costs. How much do you have to spend? The coils can't be more than a few hundred bucks.

dont pay attention to the upper^^.what? im cunfused what are u talkin about? cutting springs? are you recomendind cutting them a little?

Try posting a new thread asking about mustang suspension suppliers. I know Summit and Jegs carry a limited amount of suspension stuff specifically for mustangs. I'm a Fairlane/Comet/Cyclone guy, so my knowledge of mustang suppliers is weak. The only one I know of is American Mustang in Rancho Cordova in California. Good luck, there are plenty of part suppliers out there, I am not the one to tell you though.
