I have a 1940 Ford coupe with a 5.0 Ford crate engine, (345 HP) 2.79 rear end, and a C4. (Stock 196
The 2.79 rear end is great for interstate driving but I would like more pickup around town in 1st and 2nd out of a C4. I do not want to go to the trouble of putting in an AOD, but I do need to get a rebuilt C4 with a 2000 stall converter.

Can I get a rebuilt C4 with lower 1st and 2nd gears? I so, where and what to I ask for?

Thanks.

i believe 2.75 & 2.94 gearsets exist for the C4. not cheap. try ATI in MD., or TCI.

Hi Dave,

I put a crate 302 / 340 HP in my brothers 1968 Mustang. Has c-4 and 2.75 gears and lo-profile tires. It has the E cam not the hotter B cam. Runs good but really could use some stall on the c-4.

I talked to you at Shades of the Past last year. How are things going? If you are in the Charlotte, NC area let me know.

Take Care,
Mike Stewart
