How much clearance should there be between my main caps and girdle. Only #1 cap has clearance, the rest are touching the caps, but barely?

I like the least amount of clearance possible without touching. All of mine are less than .010" off the caps. I had to grind the caps a little though (bench grinder works good) to get it there.

Thanks Mavman, that`s what I was thinking. Last night I took them down with a sanding drum. Worked good, not too much material flying. I have .006" now, how`s that ?
