Well guys, I was putting my 302 togather and hit a minor snag. The mustang II oil pan is too shallow in the rear to clear the girdle. Now I have to modify a larger front sump pan to clear the mustang II starter (oh joy) and the back side of the front sump needs to be clearenced for the rack. So I am wondering if any of you guys ever modified a pan to work with the Mustang II in a similar manner?

I had to knock the side of the stock 351W oil pan to use the stock Mustang II bellhousing and the large early Ford starter. I had no clearance issues with the rack but had to remove the sway bar though. I quickly got rid of that terrible little bellhousing and went with a 157 tooth setup. No more denting needed even with a 9qt Canton road race 351W "T" sump oil pan. You can stack some washers between the motor mounts and the engine block itself to raise for oil pan to rack clearance if necessary.
