It may cause a divorce but I am finally getting my 408 project under way and I can't wait till it all comes together.

Headers, carb, manifold, cam and lifters are all here. Still waiting on the rotating assembly, heads, and converter.

The final result will be 408 ci from a 1979 351w block .030 bored, typhoon manifold (similar to EDLBRK performer RPM, Holley 750 dp, Comp cams hydraulic cam 236-241 at .050 and 554-550 lift with 110 LS, ProComp heads or AFR 205, Crane roller rockers, Duraspark II ignition with MSD 6 box, Eagle forged crank, Eagle H-beams, Probe forged 19cc dished pistons, neutral flex plate and balancer, C4 with a 3500 stall converter and Transgo shift kit, Crites headers with 1 ¾ primary and 3.5” collectors, 3” exhaust through a set of Dynamax or Flowmaster mufflers.

I probably forgot a few things but that's because I'm excited.

I may be joining you in divorce court. I hear about these guys whose wives are all excited about their hobby and love to ride in their cars and I scratch my head. Mine wouldnt be caught dead in mine and gets pissed every time I start it up and let it idle in the driveway because it shakes the whole house. Oh well.

My wife loves my Falcon until she sees a reciept for Summit or ebay then she becomes uneasy.

I have most of my parts now, just waiting on the heads which should be here Friday.
Hopefully I will at least get the shortblock together this weekend and take some pictures for my web site.
I will get some pictures of the ProComp heads and post what I like or dislike about them.

My wife is crazy about the whole thing. She wrenches on the car and drives it(including dozens of passes on a real dragstrip). Only prob is I need another car now!

Love the Falcon. Love the old stuff. I think the our second car has to be an "old" one. Your Falcon should be a real rocketship with the Stroker. My progress is slow. But a stroker is in the furture. keep us up to date!

Got all the parts including the 3500 stall converter and neutral balance flex plate. I am however, still missing pistons and rings, which should be here next week.
Cant really do much untill I get the pistons and start clearancing the block.

I got the Procomp/Strikeforce heads and they look awesome. They came with polished ports and combustion chambers. I'm not sure how this will affect anything so maybe someone here could explain what polishing will do?
I got a polished set because the supplier couldn't get my original set.

A friend of mine used basically the same combo...but with a 250-260 @ .050" solid roller with .670" lift and a super victor intake. Doesn't do too bad--though--I think the heads are REALLY holding him back (same heads as you're going to be using). His is a '63 Falcon. Runs 7.40's in the 1/8 on motor with slicks and so far 6.80 on the spray.

Update:
Got the crank, pistons, rods, and cam in today. I was supprised that the rod bolts cleared the block with no grinding. My H-beam rods have 7/16" ARP bolts with 7/16" 12 point heads. Minumum rod to block clearance was .080.

How close is your port alignment

The 351w knockoff intake is a copy of a Stealth
I have one too.
#2 and #3 ports are kinda small, I ported the snot out of mine. Its quite a bit taller than the RPM intake I have,
Maybe it will pick me up a little.

Port alignment is still to be determined but at first glance the manifold ports are a lot smaller than the head ports.
If I port match, it will be a lot of work and for that reason I am considering a different manifold. I might just run it and see how it performs.
The head ports are higher than normal and come close to the top edge of the manifold also. Hopefully I will work it all out this weekend and post a picture.

Hope to get the engine at least sitting in the Falcon tomorrow. I have spent the last week, as time allowed, putting together bits and pieces and trying to scour the junkyards looking for pulleys that will work with the Summit balancer. I think I found one today on an 80's F250 with a 351w.
